Hello and welcome! My name is Mrs. Eisenhart and I teach English Language Arts and Religion in 8th grade here at Maternity BVM. This will be my fourth year teaching at BVM and it is truly an honor and a blessing to have the privilege of being a teacher at this school!
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Language Arts at Penn State University and earned my Master's degree in Secondary Education at Holy Family University. I did my student teaching first with 7th graders and then with 9th graders in the autistic support class at Bensalem High School, but after getting married and having my son, Blake, I decided to teach younger children for a while. I taught PreK in Philadelphia's PHL PreK Program for 4 years, and eventually, my son moved on to 1st Grade--at Maternity BVM.
While I loved working with preschoolers, I was really ready to get on with teaching ELA to older children as I had always planned. Then, in October of 2022, God opened up the most wonderful opportunity for me--a position teaching 8th Grade ELA right here in my own parish and at my son's school! And the best part was finding out I would be teaching Religion as well--something I've always wanted to do since I was a little girl in Catholic school myself. My childhood school years at St. Josaphat's Catholic School were my very favorite school years of my life, and I particularly loved 8th grade. I am so blessed to now have the privilege of being back in an 8th grade Catholic school classroom all these years later... as a teacher!
Outside of school, I enjoy spending all of my time with my family (including our dog, Phoebe and our turtle, Dexter)! I love gardening, reading, playing video games, playing and watching basketball, going to Blake's basketball games, going to Bible study with my parents, going camping, and going fishing. We also spend a lot of time down the shore, where both sets of Blake's grandparents live!
I believe learning should be enjoyable and I strive to create a productive but comfortable classroom atmosphere. My goal is to help my students get prepared for and feel confident in their transition to high school. I encourage open communication with my students and their families so we can all work together to make it a successful year! I'm very grateful to be part of the wonderful Maternity BVM community, and I'm really looking forward to another memorable year with you all!
