In 8th Grade ELA class we will be studying grammar, working with new vocabulary words, reading a wide array of texts, and completing three major writing pieces.  In this class, we will regularly utilize our new Into Literature text/workbooks as we explore lots of interesting readings of all different types and genres, learn new vocabulary, study grammar, practice different kinds of writing, and build reading comprehension and literary skills.  I will also incorporate novels into some of the units, and our Vocabulary and Grammar workbooks will be used regularly as supplementary material and for homework.

Writing lessons will be conducted in class to closely guide the students as they create a Personal Narrative, a Persuasive Essay, and finally an Academic Research Paper. Lots of great resources will be added to Google Classroom to provide extra information on constructing the different types of academic writing, essay and paragraph structure, conducting research, properly citing sources, creating a Works Cited Page in proper format, etc.
