Students in Sixth Form are expected to engage in a range of activities that develop their skills outside of their A-Level lessons to broaden themselves personally as well as academically. This is to ensure that they develop the personal qualities and employability skills to enable them to be successful in life after Sixth Form.
Here is a list of activities that lead to Sixth Form Enrichment achievement:
Successful achievement in each of the below areas will be rewarded with "Star Badges" and when a student completes all sections they will achieve overall recognition with a "Gold Star".
Leadership and Responsibilities
The Sixth Form is a time for taking on responsibilities and this will provide you with some of the experience which is always asked for in personal statements and at interviews.
Head Prefects and Prefects
Head Prefects are elected from Year 12 during the Spring Term. Throughout the Sixth Form, we ask you to represent the school on occasions and to help with functions such as Open Days, Parents’ Evenings etc.
Current Head Prefects - Jack Lightowler, James Mapledoram, Owen Rawstorne & Amalia Smith-Guerreiro
MAPS
There are opportunities for becoming part of MAPS (Matthew Arnold Peer Support team) and for coaching younger students.
Committees
Year 12 is an ideal time for undertaking to organise a variety of committees such as charity, environment, social and diversity committees. If students wish to set up a new committee they can discuss this with Miss Oakden, Head of Sixth Form.
