Tutor groups
All Sixth Form students are placed in a tutor group with a tutor. Sixth Form tutor groups. There are 10 tutor groups which are divided into Year 12 and 13 students. Students will use tutor time to develop their understanding of the world around them and how to be a successful Sixth Form student. Tutor groups are also the basis for the inter-tutor group competitions. We believe they are an important part of students’ development and the tutor is the key member of staff for students' wellbeing. Attendance at tutor time is compulsory.
Personal Matters
We are here to support you during your time in the Sixth Form. Your tutor is the person who will probably get to know you the best over the two years, but remember that there are others who can help and advise you: Miss Scott, Deputy House Leader (maternity leave) and your subject staff. It often helps to discuss any concerns, however small. Although you are the “oldest” members of the school community, please do not feel that you are expected to have to cope on your own.
Subject Teachers
For academic issues, your subject teacher will usually be the best person to speak to.
Homework
Homework is an integral part of learning. Examples of tasks may include research, preparation for class, completion of examination questions, coursework, consolidation of differentiated classwork, project-based homework. At Key Stage 5 students should receive on average 3 hours per day, although at this level it is recognised that there is likely to be some variation.
Assemblies
The Sixth Form have regular assemblies which are an important part of our community and attendance is compulsory.
Planners
A planner will be issued to students at the beginning of each new year. It serves as a regular record for homework for students, parents/carers and tutors as well as a means of communication between home and school.
