Mental Health Month (October) is a chance to promote activities and ideas that can have a positive impact on our daily lives and the lives of others. These events and messages are tied together with a specific theme, and this year’s theme is 'Connect with your community.'
The objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilise efforts in support of mental health.
World Mental Health Day provides an opportunity for community members and people working in mental health to talk about the importance of mental health, and what more needs to be done to make access to mental health care a reality for people worldwide.
This year, Mental Health Australia’s theme for World Mental Health Day is Connect with your community. Connecting with our communities – the people and places where we feel safe, seen and heard – can help us feel cared for and supported, which is good for our mental health.
At home, work, school, in the community or online, on 10 October, Mental Health Australia encourages everyone to have conversations about mental health, reduce stigma, reach out for support – and connect with our communities.
World Mental Health Day Calendars
This year’s 2025 World Mental Health Day calendar includes daily tips throughout October for good mental health. Mental Health Australia has also collaborated with ReachOut, one of Australia's leading online mental health services for young people, to create a calendar especially for 16-24 years old.
Collaborating with Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Australia – the national peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander social and emotional wellbeing, mental health, and suicide prevention – we made a First Nations calendar to share daily tips for good mental health and connect with mob throughout October.
