Summer Reading 2024
Over the summer break, students will take time to relax and indulge in reading for pleasure, escapism, and education. Delving into self-directed reading enables every student the opportunity to grasp a deeper understanding of the human experience. Embracing Marist values underscores the significance of our responses to others' narratives and experiences, shaping how we employ our faith to confront challenges inevitable of the human condition. Students will explore this response in succint activites due by the first day of school Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
Requirements:
All students from seventh to twelfth grade will select a book that is on or above their reading comprehension level and accomplish the two activities via the Beanstack platform.
Furthermore, incoming seventh graders will engage in reading "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens" by Sean Covey and fulfill the corresponding Beanstack activity, in addition to selecting a book of their choice.
Program Steps:
Commit to our Honor Pledge by pledging to read at least one book and fulfilling activities through Beanstack.
Select your book(s). You have the option to read more than one, choosing from recommended lists or your personal collection and/or the local public library.
Utilize the Beanstack platform (marist.beanstack.com) to write a six-word response and provide a reflection of three to five sentences on your chosen book, exploring it through the lens of next year's Marist Way theme, "Our Relationship with God."
