Marist School is excited to be joining the Marist priests, students, and young adult leaders from Colegio Franco Inglés in Mexico City and Centro de Proyección Universitaria in Toluca for this annual Holy Week mission trip. Home base for the week will be in a rural parish northwest of Mexico City, near the Marist retreat house La Jordana.
During our mission trip, the days leading up to the Easter Triduum will include participating in home visits with the elderly and infirm, helping to facilitate small group activities for children, teens, and adults, praying the Rosary and Stations of the Cross together, and celebrating Mass. During the Easter Triduum, we will be immersed in the many parish processions and celebrations in the villages where we are serving. Along with our fellow missionaries, we will be sleeping in classrooms with camping-like conditions and having communal meals provided by families in the parish.
Throughout this Holy Week mission trip, our students will experience a life-changing welcome into the global Marist family, an authentic immersion into Mexican community life, and an experience of service as a mutual sharing of our God-given gifts.
Open to a small number of 10th-12th graders with some proficiency in spoken Spanish. Fluency is not required, but students should be comfortable using their language skills to engage with Spanish speakers throughout the week. Financial Aid is available. Contact Mrs. Mandy or Mrs. Ujda with questions.
