Grades 3 Activities

Hour of Code at Code.org - Choose the Grade 2-5 tab to filter and then filter no computer or technology on the left side.

Here are a few we recommend:

Sci Girls: Code Creators (learn about pseudocode)-

Move it, Move it- student practice 'programming' each other (could start with a bit of the Happy Maps lesson which introduces what an algorithm is)

Emotion Machine Activity: Code a paper robot to display emotions

If, Then (Conditionals) - you can easily do this without the materials. The Kodable app that is supposed to go with this no longer allows you to go to Sequence and Conditioning BUT kids can start at the beginning and get to the sequencing and conditioning level.

The Big Event- an event is an action that causes something to happen

• Codespark Academy- have to choose SCHOOLS in upper left corner. Then click student and then Hour of Code. I would recommend they pick puzzles. They could also pick create and click new (could be a good choice after doing some puzzles).
