During STEAM & Music class, students will get to participate in different programming and computer science activities.
We will provide Kodable kits for each student which will include making their own Kodable character (called a Fuzz) and mazes to code it through.
We have an iPad cart that you can sign out. 2021 Month of Code iPad Cart
Hour of Code Certificates: You can enter students names all at once and then it will give you individual certificates to print
Hour of Code at Code.org - Choose the Grade 2-5 tab to filter and then filter no computer or technology on the left side.
Here are a few we recommend:
Kodable Basic Programming Lesson- has some good vocab cards
Kodable Unplugged- I would recommend doing a few activities as a class by projecting some of the resource page. Then students could go to Kodable. Here is a link to the resources in this lesson : Kodable Unplugged Resources
Scratch Jr.- Coding Storytime with Scratch Jr. Cat - has an intro to scratch and some basic coding info
Move it, Move it- student practice 'programming' each other (could start with a bit of the Happy Maps lesson which introduces what an algorithm is)
If, Then (Conditionals) - you can easily do this without the materials. The Kodable app that is supposed to go with this no longer allows you to go to Sequence and Conditioning BUT kids can start at the beginning and get to the sequencing and conditioning level.
The Big Event- an event is an action that causes something to happen
Hour of Code at Code.org - Tons of activities. Choose the Grade 2-5 tab to filter.
The list of iPad apps that are on our iPads is at the bottom.
Here are a few we recommend from Hour of Code
Kodable- Teachers will be given logins for all 2nd grade students
