Team Placement Practices - Monday March 9th and Sunday March 15th from 7-9pm. Parent informational meetings will be held from 6:30pm to 7:00pm in C-14 (Coach Larson's classroom) for parents who have questions on our program.
Our team is not a school or city team. Rather, girls from across our area come together to experience and enjoy the many benefits that competition cheer offers! We are not an all star program, however there are many similarities when you consider who can be on our teams! If you can get to our practices and events, you can be a part of the Bolts Cheer family! Below are some more specific details on our teams, and some rules for participating.
Voltage - This traditional competition team will practice twice per week between 5 and 6 hours total. We will also possibly add an additional time each week for tumbling practice. For anyone who is thinking about this team, there are 3 big requirements you want to consider:
All practices over the summer are required.
Bolts cheer practices and events need to be a priority when conflicts come up.
Bolts can be the only team you are on that competes at NHSCC Nationals in Orlando. You cannot participate on multiple teams at NHSCC
For cheerleaders who need more flexibility and less commitment, please consider our local competition team Thunderbolts!
Lightning - This Game Day nationals team will practice 1-2 times per week for a total of 2-4 hours per week. Just like for Voltage, this team can be the only Nationals team you participate on at NHSCC (unless your other team is Voltage).
Thunderbolts - This traditional local team will compete in Minnesota only. This team will offer more flexibility for cheerleaders who participate in other sports or activities. This team is meant to help develop the skills needed for girls to participate on our top team, and offer strength, flexibility and tumbling instruction to them.
You can view our program's rules and learn more about our vision as a program by looking at our 2026-2027 Cheer Contract. All families will recieve a contract and sign off that you understand the expectations of our program before your cheerleader starts practices. Click on the link above to see it!
New for the 2026-2027 season, we are moving towards a tuition-based monthly fee structure. The things that determine a families cost will be:
What team they are on (Thunderbolts and Sparks are cheaper than Voltage/Lightning)
Are they going to Nationals or not
Are they new to our program, or a returning veteran?
Our season will be divided up into 9 monthly payments. We take our costs to run our program, and divide it up among the number of cheerleaders on the team. Then we add in clothing, and other items cheerleaders will need.
With this type of model, we can make our pricing as affordable as we can, but with us being completely self-sufficient, we do have to pay to rent facilities and for things like insurance and coaching. It's pretty difficult to know the exact monthly price until we know how many girls we have in our program. If you want costs to go down, you can be a BIG HELP and RECRUIT!
Assuming our average family amounts that are fundraised over the year, you can likely expect $150-$200/mo for a Nationals team (that includes our trip to Orlando) and $50-$80/month for our local competition team over the 9 months. We offer a lot of fundraising opportunities to offset costs, with families routinely earning over $1000 towards their cheer!
Families will have to enter a debit/credit card into our payment system, and payments will be charged monthly. This allows for the most flexibility in how families choose to pay for cheer!
We offered numerous fundraising opportuntities in the 2025-2026 season. Some of the things we did were:
Business sponsorships
Grocery bagging
Triathlon working
Pizza sales
Hosted a competition
We are not limited to those things! For 2026-2027, we are looking for some dedicated parents to head up our fundraising. We have so many familiies that raise between $600 to $1000 and even more for their cheer seasons! We do not require any fundraising, so all fundraising you do goes straight towards your families account to make cheer cheaper.
Have a fun idea? Bring your ideas to our fundraising leaders to see if we can do it! We are only limited by our own creativity!
