5) Functions and Volume

6) Associations in Data

The material will be provided using a workbook or can be found online(link on website/google classroom). Homework assignments will be found at the end of each section.

Materials Provided by Manzy:

  • Notebook- 3 ring binder(must be separate from other subjects) filled with lined paper, labeled section: notes, homework, tests, imagine math

  • Pencils

  • Erasers

  • Highlighter

  • White board marker

Course Expectations:

Students will be required to take notes in class and use them to complete their homework. Students must participate in class activities and ask for help if they do not understand what to do. Homework will be given daily, if students are having trouble completing the homework, they can see me after school for help. Students will be allowed to redo mistakes on homeworks for a better grade. Tests will be given at the end of the chapter. Students must keep their homework, tests and notes. Students are expected to come to class prepared and turn in assignments on time.

B 80-89%

C 70-79%

D 60-69%

Course Policy

Homework: Homework will be assigned daily and turned in the next class. Students must show their work to get credit. Homework will be worth 5 points, each day it is late, you lose 1 point(unless absent/excused). If no homework is assigned, then students will be expected to work online using Khan Academy, imagine math or Prodigy.

Homework Redo: Students who make mistakes on homework will be allowed to redo it for a better grade. They must have the original work, with the new problem on a separate page, with the word “Redo” on it, do not erase the original work. Students will have 1 week to turn in the redo homework for credit.

Classwork: Students will be expected to practice their skills in class so they will understand what to do for homework. Classwork may be individual or group work, but each student will be responsible for doing their own work.

Workbook: Students will use their workbook in class to do activities and take notes, this is also available online.

Notebook: Each student will be required to take notes daily in their workbook, the notebook is used if they need more space/practice problems. This will be used to help with their homework. The notes must be neat and readable.

Imagine Math: Imagine Math will be used to help support students' math skills. It is important that students do not use any help except during guided learning; when they can get 3 types of help, including ask the teacher for help. Students will be expected to take notes to use during guided learning to use for the lessons and post quiz. Students will be required to complete 1 hour per week in class. For students struggling with basic skills, there is Imagine Math Facts, where students can practice adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing skills.

Khan Academy: Khan Academy videos can be used to help students struggling with the material. This will be added as extra credit at the end of each quarter. The students can watch the videos on how to do the problems as many times as necessary to understand the material, then they can complete practice problems. If students want, they can watch videos to preview what we will do in class.

Absences: Students are responsible to find the work they missed(Absent Binder or on website) and turn it in, with the words Absent on it. The student has the same amount of time they were absent to turn in the work on time. If students need help, please see the teacher. Please contact the school and let teachers know if there will be a long absence so they know what work they will be completing.

Extra Help: If students are struggling, please contact me ASAP and we can work on a solution.
