Look through the Grade 9 Course Offerings to learn more about all of the electives offered for next year. This worksheet will allow you to organize your elective choices to make it easier when you register for classes in Aspen.
NOTE: When you click the worksheet link, it will force you to make a copy of the form.
On the worksheet, list your top three primary electives AND your top five alternate electives (with #1 being the one you want most).
Primary and alternate electives cannot be the same class. For example, you cannot list Art 1 in both sections because if the class does not fit in your schedule as a primary class, it will not fit as an alternate class.
If you do not choose alternate electives and your primary elective does not fit in your schedule, a class will be chosen for you.
Before registering, take time to review your teachers’ recommendations and the course descriptions on the Grade 9 Course Offerings page.
Pay attention to requirements, expectations, and prerequisites.
STEP #1 Choose Courses
PRIMARY REQUESTS
Core Courses
All students must take English, Social Studies, Math and Science (4 full year courses = 20 credits). Teacher recommendations for these classes are in Aspen, as is Health. All Grade 9 students are required to take Health – Introduction to Wellness (1 semester = 2.5 credits).
World Language (French or Spanish)
If you are not taking a world language, proceed to #3.
If you will be taking World Language (Full year course = 5 credits), the recommendation will appear on Aspen. If World Language is not listed, you may choose to take Spanish 1 or French 1.
Electives
To complete your selections, choose additional courses from the elective choices. The total of core courses and electives as Primary Requests should equal 35 credits.
ALTERNATE REQUESTS
Alternate Elective Requests
We require that all students provide five (5) alternate electives.
These selections allow for the case that a primary request elective is full or does not fit into your schedule. Failure to provide alternate electives will result in elective classes being chosen for you.
STEP #2: Post your registration selections
PRIMARY REQUESTS
Head over to Aspen to select your courses.
Select your preferred courses in the "Primary requests" box. These classes should add up to 35 credits. These are the classes that create your preferred schedule.
ALTERNATE REQUESTS
Check off your alternate elective requests in the "Alternate requests" box. You may prioritize by placing 1, 2, 3, etc in the box. These are your backup electives. Failure to provide alternate electives may result in elective classes being chosen for you.
The deadline to enter and post your selections in Aspen
