What are Minute meetings?
Below is valuable information for families and students to know about minute meetings:
In the beginning of the year, the school counselor checks in to see...
Does the child have friends?
Do they trust someone at school?
Do they have goals?
Are they involved in extracurricular activities or planning on it?
Do they feel like they get enough sleep per night?
What are the values of these baseline questions?
Friendships provide a sense of belonging.
Trust builds reliability and a sense of safety.
Creating goals helps the students create a path for themselves and something to work towards throughout the school year.
Being involved is important to be an active member of the community and expand your interests.
Sleep is important to daily function and productivity.
I refer to this information to help me support students in various ways including advocacy, consultation, counseling in groups or one-on-one, and for overall schoolwide school counseling programming.
