In 2021 Manor Lakes College hopes to relaunch the after school Japanese club. This club has been running since early 2019 and has been popular for students with an interest in Japanese language and culture.

Any students in Years 7,8 or 9 who are interested in learning about the Japanese language and culture are welcome to come to the Eyre library after school on Mondays. Class starts at 3:10pm and finishes at 4 pm.
There are three main languages in Japanese:
kanji,
katakana
hiragana.
Some of the topics students have studied are as follows:
Manga and Anime (Japanese cartoons and animation)
Origami (the art of paper folding)
How to converse in simple Japanese
Keeping up to date with news stories from Japan
writing in Japanese using iPad apps
Learning about politeness and social etiquette in Japan
Hiroshima/Nagasaki- WWII and the peace movement
