The Dual Credit program allows eligible high school students to earn college credit by taking ACC courses at their respective secondary campus. High school students complete the process for enrollment and registration in an Austin Community College course. Dual Credit participants simultaneously earn high school and college credit after completing the college level class with a passing grade. Manor ISD determines which ACC classes will be accepted as dual credit and how that course will satisfy high school graduation requirements. Students and parents are advised to check with the school district for the most updated list of approved dual credit courses.
ELIGIBILITY
Students in Manor ISD must co-enroll in Austin Community College to participate in dual credit classes. In order to be eligible for co-enrollment, students must have:
Successfully completed middle school in a public school, private school, charter school, or home school and be currently enrolled in a MISD high school.
Been granted permission to participate in the Dual Credit program from their parent/guardian, high school counselor, and campus administrator overseeing dual credit.
Passed the required sections of the state approved college readiness assessment (TSI/Accuplacer) or submit ACT or SAT assessment scores that meet the standard for TSI exemption.
The tuition and fees for ACC courses are waived for students when participating in the Dual Credit program. However, the waiver only applies to classes that are a part of the ACC core curriculum, workforce courses, foreign languages, and introductory kinesiology. This waiver is also only available for courses approved for dual credit by Manor ISD. Registration in courses outside of these categories will be assessed regular tuition and fees based on the student’s residency. Students are responsible for the charges incurred by registering for courses that are not approved by Manor ISD. Doing so can also result in not receiving credit towards the student's high school graduation requirements.
Dual Credit students are required to adhere to all the policies and procedures established by Austin Community College in regard to conduct and academic standards. Dual Credit students should be familiar with ACC’s Student Rights and Responsibilities. This information can be found in the Austin Community College Student Handbook. The policies that are particularly important for Dual Credit students to understand include:
Withdrawing from Class
Information Disclosure
Required Attendance
Scholastic Dishonesty
Students are encouraged to remember that participation in the MISD Dual Credit program means that they are college students. Responsibility and performance must be consistent with the level necessary for success in a college course.
The Dual Credit/co-enrollment process involves several Austin Community College departments. Begin the process as early as possible in order to meet the registration deadlines. Some pre-enrollment activities may be offered on your high school campus.
Step 1: Testing
Check with your high school counselor to see if the TSI2 is scheduled at your high school. Or contact an ACC Assessment Office to make an appointment for the TSI2 test, available at an ACC campus. You can test free the first time at ACC if you submit a TSI2 fee waiver request when you schedule an assessment. See your counselor for that waiver.
College Readiness Exemptions: You are exempt from taking a mandatory assessment if you have acceptable scores on the ACT, SAT, or TAKS tests. Minimum scores are:
ACT – 23 composite, with 19 in English and 19 in Math

Step 4: Complete Dual Credit paperwork with your high school counselor
Have a follow-up meeting with your high school guidance counselor. Pick up your co-enrollment form and complete it with your counselor. Bring your assessment results or proof of exemption to your counseling session – you will need them to register for classes. You and your counselor should select ACC courses at this time and record choices on the co-enrollment form. Obtain a high school transcript from your counselor or registrar.
Before moving to the next step, be sure you have completed all forms and obtained all required signatures of approval.
Step 5: ACC Academic Advising
Bring all the documents listed on the forms checklist to an ACC Advising Center at any ACC campus. No appointments are necessary; students are seen on a first-come, first-served basis. You will be cleared to register only after you have successfully completed your advising session. Get an ACC advisor’s signature on the co-enrollment form. An ACC advisor may be scheduled to collect your materials at your high school.
What you need to take to advising:
1. Residency form
2. Copy of ACC101
3. Copy of high school transcript
4. Dual Credit form signed by counselor, parent & you (the student)
Step 6: Admissions Office
After your advising session, take the following completed forms to the Admissions Office if an ACC advisor has not visited your school:
ACC Residency Form (completed during the web application process)
Dual Credit/co-enrollment form, which includes the ACC advisor’s signature
High school transcript that includes your high school’s seal and registrar’s signature
Out-of-District Tuition Exemption Request, if required
Step 7: Register for courses
Now you are ready to sign up for your classes. Check the ACC Course Schedule and the Phone & Web Eligibility Schedule to find out when you may register. Registration is available either online or by telephone. See Registering for Classes for tips. The link below is to the self service registration tool:
http://www.austincc.edu/apply-and-register/registration-information/registration-steps
Step 8: Pay per-course fees and/or tuition, if applicable
The deadline for paying tuition and/or per-course fees is based on the date you register. Check the ACC course Schedule or registration calendar to find out your payment deadline. IMPORTANT: You will be dropped from your classes if you fail to submit payment by your deadline. You can make a payment online at the time you register or stop by the Cashier’s Office on any ACC campus.
