A message from Principal Vinten

Good Morning Manara STEM Families,

Want to get involved and help on campus during our Red Ribbon Week the last week in October?  We have some fun events coming up the last week in October and we need your help!  Please read within the newsletter how you can be a part of our Red Ribbon Week festivities, especially Career Day and SuperHero Game Night.  A big thank you to our PTO for organizing our Red Ribbon Week themes and events!

We only have two more weeks left in the 2nd 6 week period!  Report cards will be sent home on Friday, November 3.  Please reach out to your scholar's teacher(s) if you have any questions or would like to see how to further assist your scholar in their learning progression.

I look forward to seeing our scholars tomorrow morning by 8:00am! Enjoy your day!

Red Ribbon Week - October 23-27

The week of October 23 is Red Ribbon Week.  The themed days are below.  Scholars are allowed to dress in appropriate themed clothing each day that week.  Please also read below about assisting with Career Day on October 24!

Career Day - October 24

On Tuesday, October 24, we will have Career Day on our campus.  In the morning time we will have community members bring in different types of trucks, as well as local police and fire departments come out for all grade levels to be able to learn about their professions.

We also need your help!  We want parents to come in and talk to scholars in grades 2nd through 8th about what you do!  What is your profession?  Are you a doctor, dentist, teacher, singer, mechanic, store owner, book writer, etc...?  If you are able to come talk to scholars on October 24 in the afternoon about what you do, please sign up on this form (classes will come and go in the gym - from 1:30pm - 3:00pm).  More information will be sent out to those who are able to present that afternoon.

Can't come in and present but would like to still share about what you do in video form?  We'd love to show our Mini-Mavericks in Pre-K through 1st grade videos of parents talking about what your profession is!  If you'd like to complete a video to show our Mini-Mavericks, please email your completed video to Mrs. Vinten at avinten@manaraacademy.org by October 23.  If you have any questions, please reach out!

Does your child want to try to win being "Principal For A Day"?  The PTO will be sending out more information on Class Dojo on how to purchase raffle tickets with a chance to win this opportunity!  The scholar who wins will also win lunch of their choice from Mrs. Vinten as well!

Family Fun Event - Superhero Game Night - October 26

Our next Family Fun Event will be on October 26.  The PTO has helped plan the theme for this month's event:  Family Game Night - SuperHero Theme!  Families can dress up as superheros as well and go around to classrooms set up with different game activities, play the games, and get a candy prizes upon completion of the games.  The PTO will also have nachos and snacks for sale in the gym (cash & Zelle only).  Would your child like to "pie a teacher in the face"?  If so, for $5.00 your child can have this fun opportunity during our game night event! We are looking forward to a fun event from 4pm - 6pm on October 26!

Paper Tutoring for Grades 3-8

All scholars in grades 3-8 have access to an online tutoring platform that can help support their homework and schoolwork needs.  They each have this linked to their Clever account, so logging onto the platform is easy!  Teachers will be assigning homework from Paper within each content area, so it is important for scholars to utilize Paper at home for their homework needs.

Need assistance in helping your child on the Paper platform?   Reach out to your scholar's teacher with any questions you might have!

Uniforms - IMPORTANT!

All students should be in uniform.  Jeans are not part of the uniform, and scholars will call home if not in uniform.  Uniform expectations:

Any scholars not in uniform will initially be given a warning and parents will be notified.  After three uniform violations, a scholar will be given detention on a Friday from 1pm-4:00pm.  After the first detention, if uniform violations continue to occur, an in-school suspension will be given.

Friday dress down days will start to be taken away for those scholars who are not in uniform during the week.  If you have any questions regarding the uniform, please reach out to Mrs. Vinten.

As the weather gets cooler, scholars will still be going outside for PE and recess.  Any type of jacket is fine for outside, but if they are wanting to wear it in the building, it must be SOLID NAVY OR SOLID GRAY in color.  You can order uniform jackets, but solid navy or solid gray jackets do not have to have the Manara logo on them.
