Good Morning Manara STEM Families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break full of relaxation and family time! Tomorrow (Monday, November 27) there will be no school for scholars! We look forward to seeing all scholars on Tuesday, November 28 by 8:00am!
Thank you for taking time to read through this week's newsletter, especially paying attention to the section on daily uniform expectations. Enjoy the remainder of the break!
#MAWAY!
Principal Vinten
The mission of Manara Academy is to provide students with a creative, adaptive and ethical environment to become knowledgeable inquirers and future leaders in a diverse and evolving global society where we master languages, honor cultural heritages, and respect diversity.
All students should be in uniform. Any scholar who is out of uniform will sit in the front office area until a parent brings the correct uniform piece(s) or if a parent is unable to bring the uniform, the student will be given an in-school suspension that day. It is important all scholars are following the dress code that is within the Manara handbook.
Uniform expectations:
Manara logo navy blue or gray shirt
Navy blue or gray pants
Sweatpants and jeans are NOT acceptable uniform pants
If you have any questions regarding the uniform, please reach out to Mrs. Vinten.
As the weather gets cooler, scholars will still be going outside for PE and recess. Any type of jacket is fine for outside, but if they are wanting to wear it in the building, it must be SOLID NAVY OR SOLID GRAY in color. You can order uniform jackets, but solid navy or solid gray jackets do not have to have the Manara logo on them.
Thank you for continuing to help keep our staff and scholars safe by following our school's arrival and dismissal procedures and protocols. Please remember to enter only from Collins Street and exit onto Sublett Rd. There are rare occasions where school traffic might need to be redirected in a different pattern, but unless directed, please follow the correct entrance and exit patterns. Please also remember that kindness is key. 😁 When we all follow the rules and take turns in line, the line runs much smoother and is much less stressful.
Also, friendly reminder that per district policy, scholars will not be able to be dismissed 30 minutes before dismissal (not after 3:00pm on Monday - Thursday and not after 12:30pm on Friday's). If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mrs. Vinten to discuss.
Your help and support is very much appreciated!
Birthday Thursday for the month of November will be this Thursday, November 30 . Any scholar who celebrates their birthday in the month of November can bring in treats to share (can be sent in with your scholar or placed on the Forget-Me-Not table for delivery). Treats must be individually packaged with the nutrition label visible either on each package or on the main package. Trays of cupcakes or cake will not be allowed, as they are not individually packaged - if sent in, they will be sent home. Treats will be allowed to be consumed only at the end of the day (around 3:00pm), and those treats not consumed and individually packaged will be sent home with each scholar. Good birthday treat ideas: indivdually packaged goldfish crackers, indivdually packaged Cheese-its, individually packaged chips, individually packaged cupcakes (such as Hostess products), indivdually packaged gummies. You also do not have to bring food as birthday treats for your scholar to pass out! Great birthday treat ideas to share with the class could also be birthday pencils, erasers, small goodie bag items that would be given at a birthday party.
**Any treats delivered on days other than the designated Birthday Thursday or are not individually packaged will NOT be passed out and will be sent back home. Parents are also not allowed to attend during this time, as it is not a designated "party" time and teachers will still be teaching during this time. Thank you!
