Are you wondering how will I know how much my child knows? Should I start teaching 'A,B,C' or should I start from teaching sentences? What is a strong skill set of my children and what are the concepts on which I can leverage my class planning?
If this is what you are thinking right now, you landed at the right place!
We do the same through assessments. Get yourself equipped with what and why of the assessments!
At Make A Difference, we’re committed to work closely with children and help through the various gaps they have. To enable this, we have a series of assessments we undertake.
Baseline assessments while starting the Programme
Endline assessments at the end of the three years of the Programme
To help you understand the starting point of the children you work with
To help customize classes to suit the needs of the children
To celebrate successes when children make progress
To help us understand if the Programme is making impact
To help make the Programme more robust by identifying gaps!
As a champion of the programming, you will be spearheading this assessments with the children you work with. You are primarily responsible of understanding and executing the assessments. In addition, you will be tracking data on the tools provided to you! As an FSV, you will be trained and supported through all the assessments!
Before you step in for the assessments, remember the objective is to know them better!
Assessments can be intimidating for children since they may have had negative experiences while going through one. As an FSV, your primary role is to ensure children are happy, feel comfortable and it does not impact their self confidence through the process. Celebrate small successes with children by commenting on effort and little achievements!
Try and establish a connection before you begin any assessment
Remember to make children feel this is an activity and not some test
Let them know as someone who will work with them, it will help you understand them better
Please keep all materials ready for assessments before class so that you do not spend too much time finding materials in class
Smile while children respond even if they have not got the correct answer
