Under the strategic objective of Empowering the child, children need to be supported with emotional health, education, transition readiness out of the shelter and aftercare facilities in an age transitional manner while continuing to build life skills, providing exposure and focusing on developmental needs. This programme acts as a foundation for 10 to 13 year children on basic life-skills, functional literacy, numeracy and developmental skills and is meant to set the tone and structure for how the rest of our interventions for older age groups will be redesigned and synchronized.
Children lack foundational capabilities and attitudes to build on which led to failure of later age interventions of the organization.
Outcomes need holistic capabilities and interventions but current programmes are limited, separate and silo’d.
Current programmes are also not designed to cope with the limited time and access we have available, and we don’t have more available time to take on new interventions.
To ensure that the children we work with are equipped with basic developmental, personal and functional skills to support more advanced development at later stage.
To provide the foundations that will enable them to cope and develop themselves further if they have to leave their shelter post 14.
To form a bedrock for them to achieve equitable outcomes when they grow up to be adults.
