Teachers must register all students by Oct 1st & submit signed Participation Agreements by Oct 23rd.
Middle School Band Audition Requirements:
1. Prepare instrumental solo:
2025 - 2026 (Odd years): "Acadia"
2026 - 2027 (Even years): "Baxter"
Tempo Range: 88 - 108
Middle school flute players that wish to be considered for piccolo should play the entire piece on flute, then the entire piece again on piccolo.
2. Play the appropriate scale as indicated in this document:
Reminder: Middle school percussionists do not need to prepare bass drum or crash cymbal parts.
High School Band Audition Requirements:
1. Prepare instrumental solo:
2025 - 2026 "First Theme from Polovetsian Dances"
2026 - 2027 "Variations on Amaryllis"
2027-2028 "Variations on Torreador" from Carmen
2028 - 2029 "Slavonic Dance No. 2"
Tempo Range: 80 - 100
High school flute players that wish to be considered for piccolo should play the entire piece on flute, then the first 16 measures on piccolo.

Students may choose to audition on snare, timpani, mallets or any combination of the three.
Snare drum audition: "Slavonic Dance" + memorized rudiments:
Paradiddle, Flam-Tap, Long Roll, played fp crescendo
Timpani audition: "Slavonic Dance" + tuning the drums
Mallets audition: "Slavonic Dance" + scales
