The Career & Employment Hub at USM allows students and alumni to gain experience in the field, explore career directions, develop global citizenship skills, and give back to the community.
The Career Hub is a fantastic resource for nursing students as they have years of experience supporting them and provides a wide variety of career resources and opportunities.
Resources include Peer Career Guides, who assist students with developing resumes and cover letters, and Career Advisors, who provide support throughout the job application process, including interviewing, salary negotiations, LinkedIn optimization, job shadowing, informational interviews, and more!
We encourage nursing students to take advantage of this resource starting from their first day on campus, and for years after they graduate. It's never too soon to begin working with the Career & Employment Hub.

New Grad Employment Info Sessions with Hospitals for Students who will Graduate in the Upcoming Year
Students who will graduate in the upcoming year are encouraged to attend New Grad Employment Info Sessions with hospitals. These sessions are offered regularly, and students should check their email for invitations to both Zoom and in-person events throughout the year.
Attending these sessions is valuable—even for hospitals where you may not initially plan to work. They provide insight into different opportunities, hiring processes, and work environments, helping you make a more informed career decision. Stay engaged and take advantage of these opportunities to explore what various hospitals have to offer.
Faculty & Professional Advisors
Your faculty advisor is a wonderful resource for career questions as you move closer to graduation. A few semesters before graduation is a great time to start discussing career options.
