Important Link(s) for New Members of the UMS Community
Timing: Hourly UMS employees are paid bi-weekly, while salaried employees are paid monthly. Together, let’s make sure the timing of when you are hired and your start date means your first paycheck reaches on time and without delay.
Three steps can really help:
In the Mainestreet Activity Guide (MSAG, up next), please submit your Direct Deposit information.
Also in the MSAG, please verify your home/mailing address(es) and select your preferred check delivery location.
Talk to your HR Partner if your situation is unique, for instance, if your address is changing.
If your Direct Deposit isn't set up, Payroll will mail a paper paycheck to the address on file. The default address in your initial record is what you used when you first applied in our hiring technology. Please confirm it is the address to which you want your paycheck sent.
Tax Withholding (W-4)
Access to complete your tax withholding selections in your MaineStreet Self-Service account only becomes available as of your first day on the job. When you select your preference and it has been processed, your paychecks moving forward will reflect your specific choice. Until then, the default Tax Withholding is single and no adjustments.
Voluntary Deductions (For Retirement)
Access to complete your voluntary deduction selections in your MaineStreet Self-Service account only becomes available as of your first day on the job. We understand the value of retirement savings. UMS’ public higher education status meaningfully and generously sets us apart. Our employees have two avenues: 457 and 403(b), plus you are able to select between pre-tax and Roth options. When you select your voluntary deduction preferences, your paychecks moving forward after processing time will reflect your choices.
