Creative writing is my first love. My poetry often corresponds with my visual art which I believe comes from writing both haiku and pisanki since I was a child to express small moments in my daily life. However, literary fiction is the primary focus of my creative written work.
Eight Tolls on the Bell
Eight tolls on the bell to mark the end
Watch was stood, work is done, night has begun
We will all leave our vessels behind
Slipping into to the dark; singing, drinking, losing ourselves
Watch was stood, work is done, night has begun
Your eyes belay mine from across the bar
Slipping into the dark; singing, drinking, losing ourselves
“This is not a common occurrence,” you say
Your eyes belay mine from across the bar
As the stars glow, that have guided sailors before us
“This is not a common occurrence,” you say
But the ocean and rushing currents have always existed
As the stars glow, that have guided sailors before us
Calloused hands steer the course across smooth skin
But the ocean and rushing currents have always existed
Crashing wave after wave after wave, I close my eyes
Calloused hands steer the course across smooth skin
This is what I remember, with tears I’m ringing
Crashing wave after wave after wave, I close my eyes
You have crossed the bar before us
This is what I remember, with tears I’m ringing
Eight tolls on the bell to mark the end
You have crossed the bar before us
We will all leave our vessels behind
