A Writing Center is a community learning space for students at any stage in the writing process. Trained tutors help guide writers. UMA’s Writing Centers offer on-site sessions at the Bangor and Augusta campuses as well as online support by chat, Zoom, and email.
From brainstorming to revision, student writers can find support for class assignments and other writing projects when they work with a Writing Center. Tutors ask questions and provide learning resources, coaching writers as they research, draft, and edit their work.
Students can reserve appointments, drop in to campus Writing Centers and Zooms, and chat online with tutors for instant assistance. Students can also email tutors and submit drafts for commentary.

It can be useful to schedule appointments as part of your project planning. Once scheduled, the appointment can serve as an in-process deadline to help keep the project on track. Consider reserving appointments early in your project planning, especially during busy times of the semester when Writing Center appointments are booking a week or two out.
There are lots of ways to get citations. The library has a built-in citation generator for articles you find in their databases, you can use a third-party citation generator like Zotero, EndNote, or EasyBib. You can also use a citation website like Scribbr to input information or a URL and get a citation
Citation generators are not perfect! Always check the citations to make sure they are accurate. See our Citations guide for more guidance.
