To the Garden, Gretchen, Misty, and all of UMF,
My time at UMF has come to a close, and so ends my time working for the garden.
Building the garden was the best possible way to spend my last summer vacation. It was a learning experience for me, as I'd never built a garden before. I learned about plants, soil, carpentry, and I even learned how to make blueprints! It was a job that was truly fulfilling, I'm so glad we were able to donate so much delicious food to those who needed it. Engaging with the community, whether through our donations, open houses, or our web presence, made me realize how big an impact food has on bringing people together. For me, the garden was a bubble of safety and calm during such unsure times. Nothing felt better than being under the sun, digging my hands into the cool dirt, and breaking a sweat with the company of Gretchen, Misty, and James.
Thank you Gretchen and Misty for adding me on to the team, and to the community for the overwhelming support for the garden!
I wish the very best for the garden, for many years to come!
