Throughout my education, I have consistently felt torn between poetry and fiction writing, finding my interest swinging arbitrarily between them from one year to the next. Although English majors have the option to follow one track or the other in the Creative Writing concentration, I decided that I would pursue both. Here I have selected my favorite samples of fiction and poetry composed during my time at the University of Maine.
Paper Horses
A poem inspired by Enid Bagnold's National Velvet that won the 1st place Grenfell Poetry prize for the experimental form in 2023.
(Be)longing

A piece of short fiction experimenting with the second-person perspective. Won the 2nd Place Award for the Steve Grady Perpetual Memorial Endowment Fund for Creative Writing
