Our Christmas celebration was full of joy, warmth, and creativity! It included three parts:
📬 Part 1: Christmas Cards to Friends in the Philippines
Our foreign teacher Judy helped build a special connection—her sister is a junior high school teacher in the Philippines. With her help, we invited our 4th to 6th graders to write Christmas cards to students there. It was a lovely way to share holiday spirit through an international exchange.
While preparing the cards, our students were amazed to learn that Filipino students start their Christmas break in late December—and it lasts a looooong time! The whole room burst into surprised laughter and envy, with lots of “So lucky!” comments!
來自菲律賓的溫暖問候與回饋。
This event was held together with our school’s English Singing Contest. English teachers carefully picked several English songs for each class to choose from and helped students practice their singing. The goal was to help students feel more confident and enjoy using English.
On the performance day, students sang on stage. Some teachers and school directors were the judges. They gave prizes to the best teams. (You can read more on our Christmas Carol Contest page!)
We also had a talent show! This gave students a chance to stand on stage, show their creativity , and have fun with everyone during this happy time.
Usually, schools do a gift exchange at Christmas to make it more fun. But since our school is in a rural area and students have different family situations, doing a gift exchange could be difficult and not fair for everyone.
So, we had a flea market instead! This idea kept the spirit of giving, but in a way that worked better for our school. Students brought things they no longer used and shared them with others. Through this, they learned how to value their things and think about reusing and sharing.
The flea market was full of love and meaning. It matched our school’s needs and gave a warm, thoughtful ending to our Christmas celebrations.
From sending cards across borders, to singing, dancing, and a meaningful flea market, our Christmas celebration brought joy to the campus—and gave students the chance to learn, shine, and show love through action.
We believe the best Christmas gift isn't in a fancy box, but in a heart that cares, shares, and dares to express joy.
