Mad Hatter Marathon (grades 6-8, 9-10, 11-12)
Leap Frog Relay (grades 6-8, 9-10, 11-12)
Game Tournament (grades 6-8, 9-12)
Mad Hatter (MH) and Leap Frog (LF) run concurrently, and the Game Tournament (GT) takes place after MH and LF are over. So participants can choose one of MH or LF and compete in GT, if they wish (subject to space availability).
Students in a lower grade level, but not a higher one, are allowed to participate in a contest. For example, students in grades 8 and below are eligible to compete in a 9-10 contest (although they are encouraged to participate in the 6-8 contest, which is very similar in nature but is open to lower grades only). Students in grades 11-12 may compete in an 11-12 contest and/or a 9-12 contest, but not a 9-10 or 6-8 contest.
Please see the links below for more information about each contest, including sample problems from previous Mad Hatter and Leap Frog competitions.
Mad Hatter Marathon is an individual contest. It is a competition in rapid computation and solution. Problems are shown on a screen, and also read aloud, one at a time. The questions are in a multiple choice format.
Leap Frog Relay is a team-of-two contest. Knowledge of mathematics and excellence in the skills of checking, working together, and making strategic use of the time are tested in this contest.
The Game Tournament is an individual contest. The contest is a tournament of two-person games, followed by a tie-breaker game if necessary.
