Author's Note

What drew me into the world of cancel culture was the sudden impact it had throughout the recent presidential elections as well as throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. It seemed as though everything controversial or impactful was leading to this new phrase. I was extremely intrigued about the various reactions about the canceling of certain celebrities. As someone who is planning on going into the social media industry, I felt as though this concept, that was taking over social networking sites, was the perfect path for me.

I wanted to focus on the reactions that people have towards the cancel culture content they see on social media because of the vast amount of opinions on different subjects. It had the ability to create controversies and social movements that have reformed society in a new way. Throughout my research I found it interesting to learn the exceptions and limitations when it comes to certain acts within cancel culture. This concept is still so new to society and there is still more information that can be found when it comes to research on this subject. This process has allowed me to gather an understanding on how people view certain content as well as their actions following their exposure.
