Love Life Live Well
I had a WordPress domain from 2021 - 2022. I chose the name www.pineappleprincesspolynesianpriestess.com. Why? I knew that no one would ever adopt that tongue twister if I ever lapsed in payment, so I could get it back again at a later date of my choosing.
I let it go after renewing it once, but while I had it up it had many services included with it that were "free" with my subscription. Like Google Sites, WordPress provides as touted, "Smart Tools To Design, Build & Launch Your Website With Ease." I have to agree with that.
However, just like Google Sites the locked margins on their templates annoyed me too. I much prefer to code by hand. It just takes a VERY long time. As my professor says though, this is the way of the future, and we have to learn it despite!
Their hosting was "lightning fast" as taglined in their previews in my experience. Of course, that also depends on your own Wi-Fi connectivity as well, so definitely test your modem speed on page 4 here ➡️
However, had I delved deeper into the tools and really gone all out to design my page to the fullest extent of the options provided to me on WP. Perhaps I would've run into the same complaints as other designers had online. The reviews are in, and they are a mixed bag of good and bad.
Here's the scoop! If you are a software developer or coder, it's bad. If you're the average non-tech savvy person without experience in coding like I was, it's fine. For a luddite like my parents, these tools won't help them at all to be honest. You need a little bit of experience with how to navigate templates and browsers in order to run it.

I have to agree with PC Mag here. It's true. What you see IS what you get with WP. There are no photo editing tools. You have to do all that to make the resolution right on your own before uploading.
The plug-ins and bug fixes always make things slow in my personal experience with every piece of software, application, or program that I've ever had the displeasure of having to come into contact. You always hope it will get better, but it does indeed slow performance down greatly. WP is not the exception, so patience is key.

There it is ultimately. If you want quality, scalability, and compatibility seamlessly across platforms then, you must pay.
Don't take my word for it. Here's the 2024 review.
