MATH 90S Lesson 5 - Point-Slope Form

Today we're going to look at another form, called point-slope form. But we'll be using it in a different way than slope-intercept form:

With slope-intercept form, our goal was to take an equation and sketch its graph.

With point-slope form, our goal is to take information about a line and find its equation.

This is useful if we might have some sort of data visually, and we want to have an algebraic way to represent it.

I want to point out that there are some problems in the videos linked below that are slightly more advanced. They use facts about parallel and perpendicular lines. So definitely make sure you've looked at those videos to learn about parallel and perpendicular lines, so that you are comfortable with a wide variety of these problems.
