Hybrid CoursesÂ
Sometimes students sign up for a hybrid course because they see that it meets for fewer hours per week, and they think that it will be less work than an in-person class. This is not true.
Hybrid courses meet for less time each week because most of the learning takes place online:
In-Person Portion
15% of learning happens in the classroom
Online Portion
85% of learning happens online, doing things like:
Watching instructional videos
Reading course notes
Taking your own notes
Reading the textbook
Participating in online discussions
Participating in study groups
Getting help with the Math Lab TAs (this can be online or in-person)
If you're considering signing up for a hybrid course, make sure to allocate enough time, have strong time-management skills, and feel confident with self-directed learning.
