This three-unit course explores the physical/sensory-motor, social-emotional, and cognitive/language development of the prenatal period throughout the first three years of development with an emphasis on interactions between genetic and environmental factors; Brain development research and major developmental theories that are the guiding principles for practice; Caring adults as a foundation for all development will be emphasized. Asynchronous ONLINE class with NO in person sessions.

The CDEV 61 Final is on Tuesday, 5/13/25 .
There is one 30 minute mandatory Zoom check-in meeting with Professor Ehnle between 3/2/25 and 3/15/25.
There is a mandatory Final Presentation (1-2 minutes) to the class on Zoom on 5/13 at 6:30pm or 5/12 at 10:00am.

CRN Required textbook:
Gonzalez-Mena, Janet, and Dianne Widmeyer Eyer. Infants, Toddlers, and Caregivers: a Curriculum of Respectful, Responsive, Relationship-Based Care and Education. McGraw-Hill Education, 2020. (12th edition, ISBN: 9781260237788) I googled this book and found a rental for $45. You are welcome to use the older editions if you want to. There just might be a few differences in what you will be reading.

California Early Learning Infant Toddler Foundations: Read pp. 1-5
Read through the Week 1 learning module and chapter 1 and 2 in the book.
