Course Objectives:
Integrate the history and physical assessment to identify the patient’s personal, cultural, and community behaviors and risk factors for common disease processes of adult geriatric patients across the lifespan.
Understand the key variables of ordering laboratory and diagnostic tests and their interpretation across the lifespan.
Apply the United States Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality recommendations for screening tests to identify risk factors of disease, immunizations, and chemoprophylactic regimens of the adult/geriatric patient across the lifespan.
Utilize evidence-based practice guidelines and health promotion strategies for adult geriatric patients across the lifespan.
Utilize information technology to enhance health promotion literacy and education
Demonstrate an understanding of the critical importance of lifelong learning as it relates to an evidence-based advanced practice, which is responsive to changes as prevention guidelines and research evolve.
Develop a health promotion project to address the health needs of a selected community.
