Course Description: Hazards and risks in laboratory and workplace; rules and practice for safety; physical, chemical, and biological safety; safety operation procedure for equipment; waste management; accident and emergency response; occupational health and safety practice in industries, academic organizations, research institutes, and hospitals.
Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs): Upon completion of this course, students are able to:
CLO1 Explain fundamental knowledge related to risks and hazards in laboratories and workplaces, including laws and safety and occupational health practices; physical, chemical, and biological safety; equipment usage; hazardous waste management; accident management; and emergency response plans. (Knowledge/Skill)
CLO2 Explain case study examples in occupational health and safety practices in industry, educational institutions, research organizations, and healthcare facilities. (Knowledge/Skill)
CLO3 Analyze, synthesize, report, and present researched information related to safety and occupational health in biotechnology, working collaboratively with classmates and instructors in a focused and accurate manner. (Knowledge/Skill)
