Adisak Romsang, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor and Deputy Head in the Department of Biotechnology at Mahidol University, specializing in microbial genetics and molecular science in the field of microbial and medical biotechnology. In 2013, Dr. Romsang completed his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Mahidol University, Thailand, supported by the Royal Golden Jubilee Scholarship, Thailand Research Fund (TRF). This period included vital international research as a visiting scientist at Cornell University and Colorado State University in the USA.
His core research addresses critical microbial and host-pathogen interactions. This work involves the molecular investigation of bacterial pathogenicity, antimicrobial resistance mechanisms through the genetics, transcription, and physiological mechanisms, and host defense signaling against pathogens using Drosophila models. Furthermore, his expertise includes gene and protein engineering for biotechnological applications and metagenomic analysis of the microbiome for health outcomes.
Dr. Romsang is a highly influential scholar, demonstrated by more than 60 invited speaker engagements at scientific conferences. He has published over 15 peer-reviewed articles, earning an h-index of 12 with over 400 citations as of 2025. His work significantly contributes to developing new therapeutic strategies against drug-resistant infections and is crucial for developing human resources in biosafety and biosecurity in Thailand.
In addition to his research, Dr. Romsang is recognized for his extensive leadership and service. He chairs the Biosafety Committee at the Faculty of Science, pioneered Thailand's first hybrid biosafety training program, and holds administrative roles in the Thai Society for Biotechnology and the Mahidol University Science Alumni Association. His excellence is highlighted by several awards across teaching and research: the Best Poster Presentation Award from TRF in 2018, the Innovative Teaching Award (2019), and the Outstanding Lecturer Award (2024). His dedication to professional standards led to achieving the Senior Fellow (SFHEA, PSF 2023) status from Advance HE, UK, in August 2024, and received the Mahidol University Award Specializing in Being a Teacher from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in October 2025.

My interests span personal, teaching, and research domains. Personally, I enjoy traveling, cooking, photography, exploring high-technology gadgets, hiking, and swimming.
In teaching, my interests cover a broad range of life-science disciplines, including microbiology, bacteriology, molecular genetics and physiology, bacterial gene manipulation, bioinformatics, biotechnology and industrial applications, laboratory exploration and skills, as well as biosafety, biosecurity, and occupational health and safety.
My research focuses on the genetics and physiology underlying bacterial pathogenicity and antibiotic resistance, host defense mechanisms against invading pathogens using fruit fly models and host immune cells, protein expression and structural–functional analysis with engineering for biotechnological applications, and the study of microbiomes and microbiota within their environmental niches to promote better health.
