Unit 0 - Animation
What are we learning?
I can make a digital flipbook
I can learn the tools of our digital animation website
I can make a digital portfolio
What to expect in this unit?
Students will get a chance to practice and learn the tools and techniques
Students will see examples of flipbooks and other animations
Students will learn how to properly edit and save their work
Why does this unit matter?
This gets our students comfortable using their stylus, a new website, our Google classroom and our digital portfolio. We will apply these skills to the future lesson in digital art.
Unit 1 - Photoshop
What are we learning?
I can learn the tools & commands for Photoshop
I can apply these tools and techniques to accomplish several formative assignments
I can take what I learned through the formatives, and create a larger project that involves more creativity and planning (Magazine Summative)
What to expect in this unit?
Students will get a chance to practice and learn the tools and techniques
Students will see examples of past student work and young artists
Students will learn how to properly edit and save their work
Students will update and use their digital portolio and google classroom to document their work.
Why does this unit matter?
We will continue to build on the skills learned during this unit and apply it to Unit 2.
Unit 2 - Painting (Studio Art)
What are we learning?
I can use a thin brush to outline and mix a variety of colors
I can use a variety of sizes of brushes and stay inside the lines
I can properly clean my palette, brushes, table and store my artwork in my drawer and drying rack
I can take the time to fix mistakes, and use my class time well
What to expect in this unit?
Students will get a chance to get to practice their paint skills with 2 formatives to build their confidence and try new techniques before starting our summative painting.
Students will get to choose a character they wish to paint.
Why does this unit matter?
This unit comes after a rigorous drawing unit. Painting is relaxing for some students, and some of the skills we learned will apply to this unit.
