Some of my favorite reading and writing websites. Click on the buttons below the logos.

Instilling a love of reading and writing is more important than being technically proficient. Like with art and music, voice and passion are key elements. Often, young high readers enjoy non-fiction texts. They are good for engagement, the difficulty of text, and being age-appropriate. Load up on books about animals and space. And then use writing to allow them to express their creative side. What would it be like to have a pet cheetah? If you were to go to space, what type of rocket and capsule would you build?

One of my favorite books of all time (which is saying a lot, I LOVE books!) is The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. It was written 60 years ago! Here is a great interview with the author entitled: "My Accidental Masterpiece."
