I was born and raised in Mendota, IL. I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was a young girl and my cousin [who is also a teacher] and I would play school all the time. I graduated from Northern Illinois University and taught for a few years before taking a break to raise my boys, Kasen and Kooper. During my time away from the classroom, I was always involved with the youth in our community. I have been back for six years now and extremely happy to be teaching in my hometown and also super excited to be teaching in a 4th grade classroom, the BEST age ever. #doubledigits I'm looking forward to another great year full of new friends, new adventures, and new discoveries!!

This is the only picture I could find of me in 4th grade. Although it was several years ago, I remember it like it was yesterday. It was my 10th birthday and my mom surprised me with tickets to a Chicago White Sox baseball game. Yes, I have always been a CWS fan and most importantly, I am still great friends with the girls in the picture. Oh, and if you are wondering, I am wearing the red shirt and the huge smile. Mrs. Buettner, a special education teacher at Lincoln School, is the girl next to me to the right in the picture.

Kasen is 22 years old. He is now a full-time employee at Corteva Agriscience in Utica and just bought his own house!

Kooper is 17 years old and a senior at Mendota High School. He plays MHS golf and bowling and looks forward to reaching new academic and athletic goals.

My students will hear a lot about my great nephew and niece, Gianluca and Mila. Gianluca is in 4th grade (just like us), and Mila will enter 2nd grade. I also talk a lot about another amazing great niece named Collins who turns one very soon.
