Laura Perry Sosik - April 30, 2023

In April, Ms. Sosik came to Marywood's KDP induction ceremony to talk to pre-service teachers about the powerful and meaningful work they do. She also talked about the funding discrepancy in our Scranton school districts; she emphasized how we as future-educators can help make a change in our communities and advocate for our students.

Marywood's Voter  Registration Week - Feb. 19 - 23, 2024 

Marywood students had the opportunity to participate in Voter Registration week activities. Activities included learning about voter registration, learning about voting history in the United States, Red White and Blue Trivia, and "Pledge to Vote Day." 

Presidential Candidate Pamphlet - February 2024 

SPSEA members made an informational pamphlet about the primary election candidates in the 2 major parties and their impact on education. Pamphlets were displayed and available to educate the Marywood community from a educator's perspective. 

Student Teaching Stipend - December 2023

MUSE and SPSEA had the opportunity to write to their local congressman to help pass the bill for the student teaching stipend!

Dr. Chris Clayton to Student Teachers - Jan. 17, 2024 

Dr. Chris Clayton educated the student teaching seminar course on the benefits of joining SPSEA. He also spoke on topics including teacher contracts, the PA Future Ready Index, law making in education, and the importance of future educators from a political perspective. 

Mr. Mike Soskil - Feb. 21, 2024 

When Mr. Soskil came into one of our monthly meetings, we made it a point to ask him about politics surrounding education and how future and current educators can get involved politically. He discussed with new members the importance of getting involved in SPSEA and understanding the politics in our area.
