Special Olympics Softball Game - May 7, 2023

The Special Olympics Softball game was an ongoing event, interacting one on one with adults athletes with special needs, ages 18-65. Through practices, unified partners taught the athletes softball skills starting with basic catching and throwing, and eventually the complicated rules of softball. During the day of the event, athletes worked one-on-one with their unified partner, playing a 4 inning game against their peers and shining with their smiles on the field. Unified partners learned so much from their willingness to play ball regardless of their skill level.

Seven MUSE and SPSEA members participated in this event. Two members were day-of volunteers, and five members were unified partners, participating within the game and twice a week practices for the majority of the Spring semester.

The Green Ridge Childcare Center Halloween Event was a one time event. SPSEA and MUSE members attended the Green Ridge Childcare Center after school care program to teach them about Halloween. Students participated in a book read aloud, Halloween crafts, and learned a Halloween-themed dance.
