We never settle on our first idea! You are expected to produce ten ideation sketches before settling on one design. At least five of the designs should be significantly different from the others. Five can be variations on one of your other ideas, however, all ten ideas can be completely unique and unrelated.
Iteration sketching guidance:
Sketches don’t have to be perfect. but they can't be vague such that viewers don’t know what your idea is.
Don’t skimp. You need to make 10 (or more)! We will have guided exercises to help you produce 5 of the 10.
Don’t make your sketches small. Larger sketches are easy to see. 2 or 4 per page is fine, but no more! Make each sketch 5 in or larger.
Don’t use the back of the page. You’ll be putting these up on the wall, and you don’t want half of your designs covered up.
Start with a pencil. Darken important lines. Add ink and color if it helps your design to have more impact.
A little shading can go a long way
Small labels can help the viewer understand dimensions and details.
