I preach a lot about honesty, respect and how to treat others. We should always communicate honestly with each other, in open and respectful ways. I am a firm believer on letting kids be kids. All my students will have the freedom to be themselves as long as there are no behavior issues. I want to put all my students in a position to succeed, but that has to work both ways. In order to learn from one another and become better people, we must be willing to work efficiently as a team.
I want to get my students up and moving as soon as I possibly can. Less sitting and lecturing MORE up and moving, early and often. Participation and effort are huge in being successful in my class, while having fun and socializing also play big roles. My goal is to create an atmosphere where failure is an opportunity to learn and grow from. Not only should it be okay to ask questions, it is encouraged. I am trying to make sure all of the students are comfortable around me, their peers and themselves. I believe that leads to good energy. Good energy leads to greater participation and a fun learning environment, where success comes at a higher rate.
As I teach, I love to ask my students questions that help guide the lesson for that particular day. It is a priority to always focus on solutions, not problems. When skills become difficult, we break them down piece-by-piece, until there is success. Small successes strung together can lead to confidence and hopefully passion. I love passionate students because not only can I lean upon them while educating but I really believe they inspire others! In the end, I care a lot about people and the process about getting to know someone. I hope I can inspire my students to become better versions of themselves. I am committed to helping my students become good people who can contribute to our community.
