Course description

French 4H is designed with a communicative approach in order to prepare students for the complex interchange encountered in different French speaking environments. Students attain a greater mastery of French syntax and stylistic expression through careful examination and interactive practice of various language structures. Students will continue their exploration of French literature by reading and interpreting different challenging and authentic texts. They will practice their presentational skills by writing longer and more cohesive writing assignments than they have in the past. They will also give several extensive oral presentations on various topics. Interpersonal skills will be developed by communicating in all major time frames on a variety of topics. By the end of the course students will have sufficient language practice to enable them to become intermediate-level speakers of French (intermediate-high) as defined by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages guidelines
