Course description

French 1 is designed to help the student who has had little or no prior knowledge of French to experience the beginning studies of the language. The course is a communicative study of the French language within the context of the Francophone world. Students acquire proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing French while developing cultural sensitivity. The focus of the course is student interaction. From the first day, students practice communicating with their peers. By the end of the course, students have acquired a basic understanding of fundamental vocabulary and sentence structure. They have also developed a sense of global awareness by studying Francophone customs, culture, and everyday life.
