Course description

French 3 is designed to develop the student’s language skills gradually and through a meaningful cultural context. Throughout the course, students are able to develop more fluent communication in French through careful examination and interactive practice of various language structures. Authentic reading and writing assignments help students develop interpretive, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Internet and computer aided activities as well as audio lab assignments provide students with cultural knowledge and ensure continued development of all four language skills. By the end of the course, students will be able to comprehend and speak French well enough to have a conversation with a native speaker about various topics, read and understand the main ideas expressed in literary texts from different genres, write more complex sentences and paragraphs, and gain a greater awareness of Francophone cultures
