TCAL 2

Our team ran strong and most athletes achieved a new personal record. Unfortunately, we also took some hits yesterday as other schools shuffled around a few athletes to out-score us in 3 of the 4 divisions. The good news is that Varsity boys retained their undefeated season record and the rest of the team has a new level of focus as we progress through the season. We’ll be back stronger and faster by TCAL Championships!

Woodbridge Classic

Incredible performances by both varsity teams at such a HUGE event! The race took place over 2 days at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine. It produced some of the fastest times in the State and allowed our kids to take their abilities to the next level. Our girls squad consisted of Emma, Molly, Emily, Francisca, Grace and Caleigh. All 6 girls ran new 3 mile PRs!  While Emma broke the school record in a time of 18:21, Molly, Emily and Francisca all ran fast enough to make the Top 10 list of the fastest 3 mile times in Lincoln history!

On the boys side, Daniel Gonzales led the team to an impressive 2nd place team finish, while breaking the boys 3 Mile school record in a time of 14:53! Jeffrey, Caleb, Keith, Jansen, and Cash all broke the 16 minute mark. Logan and Andrew were not far behind, earning huge personal records in the low 16’s, making this our fastest team performance ever!

Well Done Trojans!!!

Great work to those who took on the challenging course in Angels Camp! We were not able to run at full strength as a team since our varsity was competing in Irvine and we were missing numerous f/s who could not attend. For those that did run, it was a great preview to our Section Qualifier course later in the season. Congrats to Luke, Tony, Kobi, Anna and Summer for achieving new Personal Records from last season!

After a long period of training, heat waves and poor air quality due to fires, we finally got to race the whole team this season. I was very impressed with our overall performances, especially on such a challenging course. Our varsity girls raced placed 5th out of 24 schools, beating a lot of heavy hitters in our area. Emma led the way, still placing 4th overall after having to stop and put her shoe back on part way through the race. Our Varsity Boys were able to follow it up with a 4th place finish out of 34 teams, despite not having Team Captain, Jansen Gillig, competing yet. Baylen Ponte had a strong race, leading the frosh/soph boys team to another 5th place, while the best performance of the day went to our frosh/soph girls as they finished 2nd place as a team. We decided to have a handful of athletes compete in this early season race to get a feel of the course that will be used for the State Meet at the end of the season. The meet began with some college races, which allowed us to watch some of our past athletes as they competed in their season debut. Meanwhile, in the varsity girl’s race, Emma Kaufman ran close to her PR from last season, placing 3rd overall in 19:37. Emily and Molly came in close behind, placing 3 girls in the top 12 from Lincoln. On the boys side, Daniel Gonzales led the race along with Rocklin’s number 1 runner, slipping back to 2nd just before the finish line. Our sophomore, Caleb Cliburn earned himself a medal as well, coming in 6th.  Afterwards, our varsity boys had a strong workout of hill repeats on the backside of the course. Overall, it was a valuable experience for those athletes to gain confidence and familiarity at Woodward Park and I’m very pleased with their performance. It also provided feedback for what we can do better as we move forward with training.
