Welcome to 6th Grade ELA! In this course, students will build essential reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through a variety of engaging texts—including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, and novels.
Throughout the year, students will read both short texts and full-length novels, participate in discussions, and complete projects that help them grow as confident, thoughtful communicators.

The grading scale comprises of the following categories and weightings:
Assignments 40 points
Quiz 30
Test 20
Participation 10
Please make the necessary effort to submit all work on time. This practice will prevent you from losing 10% daily for late submissions.

Each Monday students will be given 10 vocabulary words along with their definitions. The words will be based on the novel that we are currently reading. This list will also be posted below. Students will need to learn the words and their definitions in readiness for testing on the following week. Notifications will be given on the web page for testing dates.
