Course Overview
This year grade 6 students will be taught how to interpret rational numbers along with operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They even learn how to incorporate decimals, fractions, and percentages. Students also learn how to evaluate all four operations using both positive and negative numbers.
Grade 6 Textbook Students will be working through GO MATH volumes 1-2 throughout the year. We will cover the following areas:
Solving read-world problems involving whole numbers and decimals
Using estimation to help solve decimal and whole number problems
Using the GCF and the LCM to solve problems
Dividing fractions using multiplication and division
What are mixed numbers
Estimation of products and quotients of fractions and mixed numbers
Calculating the absolute value of a number
Graphing ordered pairs
Using ratios to express relationships and solve problem
Using ratio reasoning to solve percentage problems
How to use measurement to help describe and compare objects
How to write, interpret, and use algebraic expression
Using equations and inequalities to represent situations and solve problems
Using measurement to describe two-dimensional and three-dimensional figures
Displaying data and analyzing measures of center
