Philosophy
The Lumberton Township School District Libraries embrace a philosophy that recognizes the potential of our patrons to evolve into discerning users of information, resilient problem solvers, informed digital citizens, lifelong scholars, and compassionate members of a global community. We strive to spark curiosity and cultivate a love for learning beyond any one discipline. Central to our program is our commitment to fostering a culture of open-mindedness, adaptability, resilience, and ethical decision-making, ensuring that our students are well-positioned to meaningfully contribute to society.
Mission Statement
We are committed to leading our students toward their academic independence and social growth through passion, purpose, and play.
The primary objective of the district schools' educational media centers is to implement, enrich and support the schools' educational program. The centers will provide a wide range of materials on all levels of difficulty, with diversity of appeals, and the presentation of different points of view. The library media center will:
Provide materials that will enrich and support the curriculum, taking into consideration the varied interests, abilities and maturity levels of the pupils served;
Provide materials that will stimulate growth in factual knowledge, literary appreciation, aesthetic values and ethical standards;
Provide a background of information which will enable pupils to make intelligent judgments in their daily life;
Provide materials on opposing side of controversial issues so young citizens may develop under guidance the practice of critical analysis of all media;
Provide materials representative of the many religious, ethnic and cultural groups and their contributions to our American heritage;
Place principle above personal opinion and reason above prejudice in the selection of materials of the highest quality in order to ensure a comprehensive collection appropriate for the users of the library media center;
Provide for the use of a wide variety of audiovisual materials and equipment to enhance the curriculum.
